InterContinental Dubai Festival City

I took a taxi from the Crowne Plaza Dubai Deira to my next hotel. The 5 star Intercontinental Dubai Festival City located within the Festival City district.

This five star property is connected to the fine Festival City mall which is adjoined to the adjacent IKEA mall. I made use of my Intercontinental Ambassador's BOGOF (Buy one get one free) certificate and booked a Club Intercontinental Twin room for SGD600 nett for 2 nights (2nd night free)

We tried to check in at the main hall and were directed to the private club intercontinental lobby and was further directed to the club lounge on the 26th floor. Finally, I was checked in at the club lounge. Check In was efficient and swift, we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom twin club suite and were walked through the club benefits.

It is always great to receive a room on a high floor (with exception to pool access rooms!), was happy to be staying on the 24th floor.

The upgraded 1 bedroom suite is huge, with an approx size of 85 sqm. It comes with a large living area with a bar counter, work desk, sofa and lazy chair. The adjoined twin bedroom has 3 doors, one leading to the living room, the other leading to the main door and the last to the ensuite bathroom.

The bathroom is awesome, it has a separate bath and shower area, deep soaking tub, and not forgetting, luxurious bath amenities from Asprey!

My friends and avid readers would know that Im a big fan of club lounges and would definitely try to book a room with lounge access whenever possible.

After taking a wonderful afternoon nap at the comfortable bed, we made our way to the club lounge for the evening canapés

Upon stepping into the lounge, it was not the food that took our breathe away, but the awesome view of the setting sun against the Dubai skyline.

InterContinental Dubai Festival City - View From Room

The evening canapés at this property differs from the other IC properties which I've stayed in. They offer a spread of appetisers, bread, cheese platter, fruits and chocolates as a buffet style.

The other hot dishes are served when ordered with individual serving unlike buffet style elsewhere.

There were a few guests who were complaining about it but was explained by the lounge manager as the property aligning its lounge offerings to international brand standard. I'm not sure what these standards are, but I would be upset if all InterContinental would be offering ala-carte mini hot dishes in future.

Food separate, the lounge service was excellent, the whole experience was extremely exclusive and I loved the books which they showcase at their lounge.

After a few glasses of champagne, red wine and food, we returned to our room, half full, half famished. Last night we had dinner at the Terra Firma steakhouse. I will cover my meal at the steakhouse with a separate review. Tonight we ordered room service.

During the wait, I went to the common areas to take some photos of the hotel.

Lamb Curry, Warm Buns, Tandoori Chicken Pizza. A spicy treat before a good night sleep.

Next morning we had breakfast at the main restaurant, awesome international buffet breakfast, it even had sambal chilli, doughsticks and porridge, sashimi, cured meat and many more!

It's always a joy to take a walk after a hearty breakfast and rest at the day bed of the hotel pool whilst admiring the awesome Dubai skyline.

We stayed up to 6pm before checking out and was given a complimentary airport transfer by the club lounge manager on a awesome BMW 5 series to the Dubai Airport. Totally love the luxurious ride!

It was in summary a very comfortable stay at the InterContinental, love the club lounge and the service, except the food offering. Definitely making me spoilt for choice when I return to Dubai with the new opening of another InterContinental at Dubai Marina.
