Sofitel So Singapore
Sofitel So is a new designer label under the Sofitel, the luxury hotel brand, the symbol of French elegance in luxury hospitality worldwide. Sofitel So Singapore opens its doors on June 2014 and I made my way to its doors 6 months later in January 2015.
I made a reservation for a So Cosy room at $219++ during an Accor promotion.
During Check-In, I was given a welcome juice drink as per my Accor Platinum status. I was also given a 2 category upgrade to its So Urban room at its Heritage Wing. I asked whether are there any additional amenities in exchange for the absence of an executive lounge but was given a straight No. After a 15 min wait, my room keys are ready.
The Hotel lobby is long and narrow due to its space constraint being housed in a heritage building.
The SO Urban room is housed in the Heritage wing in the original heritage building.

I was given room 334 on the third floor. The 40m2 So Urban Room comes with the Signature Sofitel Mybed, Luxurious rainfall shower, Deep soaking bath, His&Hers So Toiletries, Separate Toilet Area, Complimentary Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

The Study Area came with a little Eiffel tower decor. There are 2 power adaptors which are useful for business users. There are hotels that still only provides 1 power plug. The room comes with an IPAD which can be used to control the lightings and mood of the room. There is also an IPhone which replaces the "inhouse phone" but mine was not working during the stay. There are also books about Singapore in the room. Love the concept.
Mini Effiel Tower & Work Table
An hour into my stay, the door bell buzzed & I was offered a complimentary afternoon tea set which consist of 2 drinks, cookies, chocolates and lemon marshmallows. The cookies were quite good but I could not figured out what was it, sadly the hotel staff was not able to update me on what flavour the cookie was during the stay.
Complimentary High Tea
The Hotel has a functional and modern in-house gym. I love the infusion of local culture in the gym.
We returned to the lobby to explore the premises.

The Hotel is located just within steps of Lau Pa Sat or Old Market. It is a historical market which was opened since 1823 but was demolished/revived and renovated throughout the 190 years history. It was transformed from a market to a hawker centre in 1980s with the development of Shenton Way as the city state CBD. The market is famous for its evening food street selling bbq seafood, satay and many local dishes.

After dinner, we took a few shots of the beautiful exterior of Sofitel SO Singapore.
Hotel Exterior & Night Street
I used to work at this building a few years back. The building is still a true beauty. We returned to the hotel via its main entrance which is located at the small alley.

As night falls, its only natural to unwind at the hotel's rooftop pool & bar located on the 6th floor.

The weather was cool and breezy after an afternoon downpour. Time to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink whilst basking in the view of Shenton Way.
We returned to our rooms shortly for the night.
8hrs has passed and its time for an exercise. My mouth and stomach exercise. Breakfast.
Breakfast @ XPERIENCE Restaurant
The breakfast spread consist of the usual continental spread and some local delicacies such as dimsum.
Fruits, Cereals, Muesli
I enjoyed the small gestures as such placing milk, assorted jams and butter at each table.
My Breakfast Selection
Over Hard Eggs
I felt that the breakfast spread could be better. The offerings are of good quality but after a round or two, I had almost tasted most of the dishes. I was hoping that the spread could be improved the next time I return. I made used of the late check out offered to Accor Platinums and took a swim @ the rooftop bar.

Overall It was an OK stay. Having paid SGD219++ for a 5 star boutique hotel stay, the stay itself could be much better. I was disappointed with the service quality and delivery. Staff were not pro-active in replacing the faulty in-room IPhone and queries about the flavour of the high-tea cookies went unanswered. I have an upcoming stay at Novotel Clark Quay and is hopeful that the stay and service quality would be better than this.
