Tosca Italian Trattoria
The DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru has been my frequent spot for weekend getaways from Singapore. Previously, I dined at the Tosca Italian Trattoria and found their food offerings to be pretty good with decently priced good wine!
I returned to the property recently again for dinner and requested for a chef special set meal of the day.
I was served a warm basket of bread at the start of the meal followed by a plate select thinly sliced cold cuts, dry cuts, cheese, grilled octopus and grilled codfish stuffed pepper.
The grilled eggplant was excellent, the stuffed codfish is sweet and has a nice soft texture, the pepper is grilled with a slight crunch but soft in the inside. The thinly sliced spiced turkey was amazing so with the grilled octopus, crunchy and sweet!
I ordered a bottle of house red wine from Argentina and found the thin cuts a perfect match with the wine.
For our main course, we had a beautifully grilled tenderloin steak which was slightly well done as per what I would have liked. The other slow cooked wagyu beef cheek is totally awesome as usual! We ended off the meal with a milky Panna Cotta served with a fresh and sweet strawberry drizzled over melted caramel.
