PARKROYAL on Pickering, Singapore

Recently, I stayed in the PARKROYAL on Pickering Singapore, the hotel made its fame in its screening of the temporary home for Hitman 47 and his protectorate during the filming of the Hollywood movie.

I booked a Orchid Club King Room and was given a double category upgrade as a GHA black to the Orchid Club Junior Suite albeit on a lower floor as the rest of the Junior Suites on the higher floors are still occupied. My check-in process was quick and efficient.

I was given a room at 9am and was offered a late check out at 6pm. I was also informed that champagne breakfast is still being served at the Orchid Club Lounge and was invited to dine there after I have inspected the room.

The well appointed Junior Suites have a space area of 48sqm with a separate living room, bedroom, bathroom with double sinks, deep soaking tub and a standing rainfall shower area. The room offers panoramic views of the Boat Quay area and side view of the landscaped gardens at certain floors of the hotel. 

I love the natural feel of the hotel and the room, you feel at ease and well-connected to mother nature which offers a different dimension to most hotels in Singapore. The room although seems small at 48sqm, made great use of its space to offer a spacious impression to its guests

The orchid club lounge is located on the top floor of the main building and offers club guests a wide range of benefits from champagne breakfast, to all day beverages, evening cocktail and exclusive access to the rooftop bar. 

During my stay, I did make full use of the club benefits, the continental breakfast spread was decent and enough for a business traveller. The evening cocktails had a good spread, was good but not mind blowing. 

As night falls, I went around to the common areas to take some shots of the hotel premises. One thing good about this hotel is its proximity to both Boat quay, Clarke quay and Chinatown. It is of walking distance to 3 MRT stations and is of a convenient spot to start exploring Singapore

Next morning, we went to the Lime, the in-house restaurant located at the main lobby for our breakfast as it offered a better spread as compared to the club lounge. This hard decision was made as we had to forgo free flow champagne breakfast at the club lounge.

The restaurant offered a wide spread of international buffet selection, however one thing which irk me was the lack of real meat in the buffet spread, something like chicken, pork or mutton, was missing. The meat dish that was present were cured meat like ham, bacon and sausages, I had to temporary curb my meat craving by having 4 servings of the glutinous rice (which came with a spoonful of minced meat filling). That being said, the spread is still very good and extensive.

The PARKROYAL on Pickering is designed by award winning architecture firm, WOHA and this is the first hotel which features a hotel in a garden concept. I love the design of the common areas and the exclusive roof-top terrace garden.

Not forgetting, the infinity pool and bird cages at the pool area.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family who wishes to a different experience from the usual hotel concept. PARKROYAL on Pickering, Singapore offered a earthly ambience and experience which I don't think any other hotel in Singapore is able to replicate at this level of luxury. 

That being said, I cant convince myself to pay approx SGD400+ for a Orchid Club Deluxe Room when I could get a good club room at other branded hotels for lesser.
