Holiday Inn Resort Batam, located at the Waterfront City and minutes away from the Waterfront Ferry Terminal. 

Having previously reviewed the 2 Bedroom Suite during late last year, I returned to the property this year and was given an upgrade to its 1 bedroom deluxe suite with pool view. It is always great to return to a property and see familiar faces welcoming you back to the property. Glad to also see that the property have improved their elite member amenities with Spire Elites receiving a beautiful cocktail as welcome drink. 

As usual, check in was efficient and I obtained my room keys, welcome card by the GM within minutes. 

I was upgraded to a renovated 70 sqm 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite located on the 10th floor of Block 3 with sweeping views of the Straits of Batam and the resort's landscaped pool.

The spacious deluxe suite has a decent dining area, sofa and living area with an outdoor balcony. The space is amazing, the bedroom comes with a luxurious king size bed facing a flat screen TV with great range of international TV channels.

The ensuite marble bathroom comes with a separate tub and shower, marble top vanity area and holiday-inn branded toiletries. 

Everyone loves a dip in the pool at a resort, most of the time, guests also enjoy a luxurious massage or spa treatment too. I was treated to a pretty good balinese massage at the in-house Tea Tree Spa at a private villa. 

I was warmly greeted by my Therapist Nikan who brought me to my private villa. She graciously allowed me to take a few shots of the villa before we started our treatment. Oh! Spire Elite members also receive a complimentary 15 minutes back massage voucher upon check in and I utilised the voucher during this treatment, bringing it to 1hr 15minutes.

The treatment started with a salt rub with warm water for my feet followed by a full body massage within the tranquillity of the villa. My My, I felt extremely relaxed after the entire treatment. So much so that I felt famished and could not wait to redeem my club sandwich at the cafe! 

During Check-In, I was also offered a choice of a welcome amenity which I've decided to go for the Club Sandwich. I went to the Terrace Cafe for afternoon tea, a glass of coke with lime & club sandwich along the pool. You know its time to chill when you are served a warm bun with butter whilst waiting for your order. 

The presentation was beautiful, the french fries was crispy and not greasy. The sandwich was lightly toasted and tasted good, however it was a pity that the chicken was dry. If not, it would have been an awesome afternoon tea. 

I finished the meal with an apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. I love the crumble but would finish up the whole dessert if there were more apples in the crumble. 

I laze at the balcony reading my book as the sun sets into the horizon.

As night falls, the Akatonbo Teppanyaki restaurant comes alive with live cooking of Japanese food and the Terrace Cafe showcases its dinner buffet with a live BBQ station serving fresh seafood and meat on the grill upon order. 

I stayed at my balcony admiring the sunset the deep blue skies as the aroma of grill and Teppanyaki fills the air. 

I went to the Terrace Cafe to try out the evening buffet spread. The spread looks pretty good, with a wide range of appetisers, a salad bar, cold cuts including prawns and scallops, sashimi, hot soup and buns, several main dishes and tantalising dessert! 

On saturday nights, head outwards to the outdoor area for a variety of barbequed seafood and meats, cooked by the chef and served to your table as the live band entertains you with English songs. 

The food selection has improved vastly as compared to my previous stay and the taste was good too! 

The F&B Offerings and Rooms quality have improved as compared to my previous stay. Nevertheless, these are signs that the management take feedback seriously and continuous improvement is the only sustainable way forward to achieving service excellence.
