Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore (Club King Room)

I recently stayed at Hotel Jen Tanglin, re-branded from the previous Traders Hotel after a global re-branding effort by the Shangri-la Hotel & Resorts group in introducing a new lifestyle brand and concept to appeal to the younger generations of travellers.
Hotel Jen Tanglin underwent an extensive renovation, costing up to S$ 45 Million. The exterior of the building was the same, however the interior is modern, beautiful and inviting. I was impressed by the beautiful lobby area!

During this stay, I stayed at Club King Room with accompanying Club Benefits. The 26sqm club king rooms comes with an ensuite bathroom equipped with high powered shower, a reasonable living area that has a sofa with tanglin road view and a decent work station.
The room looks modern but seemed small as compared to other club rooms in the area and generally I would have expected the club rooms to be in the region of 32sqm to 40sqm. However I have to give them credit for making smart use of the room space which seem to look bigger then it is.

The Club Lounge, located on the 17th floor, offers view of the Havelock and Tanglin Area, with the far ends stretching towards Queenstown and Alexandra. Being a club guest entitles you exclusive benefits to the club lounge such as
- Breakfast from 0630 to 1100hrs, (1200hrs for weekends)
- Mid-day afternoon treats
- Free flow of alcohol and light dinner bites from 1700 to 1930hrs
- Open 24hours (Self service with room key access from 2200hrs to 0600hrs)
- Complimentary pressing of 1 clothing per stay

I had dinner at Ah Hoi's kitchen which is pretty good and will feature in the week to come. It was a cloudy night and a night shots showcased a reddish copper sky.

Good Morning Jen

The breakfast at J65 offered a sumptuous international breakfast spread with your usual salad bar and continental offerings, desserts, live omelette station and also a noodle station.
I love breakfast that has a wide range of selection as I often get a little grouchy if my hotel breakfast does not have meat, dimsum, cereals and your usual cold cuts. This selection satisfied me and the quality is pretty decent too!
Try the Laksa if you are here, I enjoyed mine.

After the sumptuous breakfast, we had a swim at the pool whilst invoking the late check out request. Overall, it was a reasonable staycation with a beautiful decor, the club lounge offering was average and could be better, the breakfast itself was good, if only the room is bigger. I am a little picky with my recent staycations but I enjoyed the Jen experience and would recommend this property for those seeking an unique and refreshing stay experience.
