During late 2016, I visited this property and reviewed the Junior Suite. I returned to the property again and this time, I booked a Club King Room and was upgraded to its Club Premier King room. 

Frankly speaking, I have no idea on why a property would need 3 room category for its club rooms, mainly, club king, club deluxe king and club premier king. I guess the view and the layout of the rooms are different. 

As usual, one of the finest perks of being a GHA Black member is the awesome 0900hrs check in and 1800hrs late check out the next day! I arrived at the property at 0830hrs and was given my room which has been prepared and ready for me. 

The well appointed 37sqm Orchid Club Premier rooms offers a stylish modern decor with full floor and ceiling windows that showcase the beautiful scenery of the adjoining Chinatown and Singapore River & Boat Quay area.

One thing which I am impressed is how spacious the 37sqm room looks like, it managed to fit in a king size bed, executive working table, sofa bed, living table and a full sized wardrobe without making you feel cramp. However the downside,  in my opinion, has to be the smaller bath area. I would usually expect a standing shower and separate deep soaking tub for a club room of this size, however the premier club rooms comes with only a standing shower, albeit with a view. 

Staying at the Club Rooms also entitle you with Orchid Club Benefits which includes a welcome drink, priority check-in and out, all day refreshments at the club lounge, complimentary champange breakfast, yes! free-flow champagne during breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails from 1800 to 2000hrs!

Not forgetting that you also have exclusive access to the rooftop gardens and terraces that offers a different view of the tanjong pagar and central Singapore! 

The breakfast at the Orchid Club offers a smaller spread as compared to the main lobby restaurant, Lime. If you prefer to have more choices, I recommend you to head down to the main restaurant for breakfast followed by champagne or coffee and fruits at the Club Lounge whilst admiring the beautiful Singapore River view. 

Head over to Lime early as its quite popular and may get crowded. 

A hotel stay is not complete without a trip to its swimming pool, PARKROYAL on Pickering offers a beautiful infinity pool with views of the City Hall area and great pool side amenities such as the popular and gorgeous pool side cabanas. 

My thoughts after a return stay at the property? The first thing had to be the lack of actual meat in the breakfast spread which was pretty disappointing. The property itself is new and the rooms itself are beautiful, the clever use of green space and natural lights make you feel at ease in the room, however you may feel slightly warm if you are facing direct sunlight. 

The lack of the GHA Black local amenity is disappointing as this is the second time it has happened and the Orchid Club staff do not seem to be aware on the presence of a GHA local amenity. 

All in all, it is a refreshing hotel experience and certainly has one of the most beautiful pools in the area. Honestly, I expected more refined service from a property which has a club room rate that is higher than the Conrad and InterContinental. 

Would I return? It depends, maybe next year.
