Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, Bali Water Palace

After my trip to the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, I head further north towards the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, home to the Ulun Danu temples, overseeing the natural lake Bratan. I settled for lunch at the nearby restaurant, The Danau.

I ordered a nasi bebek goreng, which is fried local duck with fragrant rice. The duck was well marinated, deep fried to crispy, a tad oily for my liking. We visited the temple after a heavy downpour during lunch.

The temple was built in the 17th century and is widely used for offerings towards the lake goddess Dewi Danu, one of the supreme deity in the Balinese tradition.

I arrived at the temple which was not as busy as usual as the heavy downpour has just subsided.

We left the temple and its beautiful gardens shortly as the skies begun to pour, we head further north to see another lake, the Danau Buyan.
