Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore (Pacific Club Suite)
This is my second visit to the Pan Pacific Orchard Singapore, having visited the property last year during National Day .
Having re-qualified for my Global Hotel Alliance Black membership for 2016, I returned to the property for a weekend staycation in the Pan Pacific Club room for S$280++ per night.
GHA have one of the better membership perks for its top tier members with Black members enjoying a super early check in at 9am, late check out at 6pm and 2 category space available upgrade (with exception to specialty suites).
I arrived at the property approx 0930hrs and was invited to have breakfast at the Pacific Club Lounge whilst waiting for my suite to be ready.
I was slightly disappointed to find that the breakfast spread at the club lounge has deteriorated as compared to my previous stay, however the ala-carte options offered are still pretty good. (I would be happier if they kept the dimsum platter on the menu)
I ordered a serving of eggs benedict and fish porridge whilst enjoying free flow of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Just as breakfast service was about to end, the friendly club butler informed me that my room has been upgraded to the Pacific Club Suite is ready for check-in.
The beautiful 66sqm Pacific Club Suite is located on the Pacific Club floor with panoramic views of Claymore road.
The well appointed suite has a separate living area with LCD TV, comfortable sofa and ergonomic work station and a well-stocked minibar. Black members are allowed to consume all non-alcoholic drinks from the mini-bar without a charge.
I love the spacious layout of the suite, especially the bathroom which has a deep soaking tub, double vanity area and luxurious rainfall shower. Nothing beats a refreshing rainfall shower after a long walk at Orchard road!
Staying as a Pan Pacific Club guest grants you all day access to the exclusive Pacific Lounge that offers all day beverages, continental breakfast with ala-carte options, afternoon tea and evening canapes with free-flow wines, cocktails and beer.
We went over for the evening cocktails and was glad to find the evening cocktail spread to be of better quality as compared to my previous stay last year. There were more savory snacks and the presentation of the canapes have vastly improved. The seared tuna served on chilled cucumber is pretty good and I personally liked the sandwiches that day.
One of the greatest perk of staying in a hotel is having a team of kitchen crew ready to cook anything on the menu regardless how late it is.
As night falls, I was a little hungry and dialed room service for a serving of chicken satay and fish fingers. The satay was grilled nicely with a slight char, the peanut sauce is awesome, smooth and thick!
The fish fingers were ordinary, but the fries were chunky and crispy, very nice!
Next morning, I headed towards the main restaurant for breakfast but found the spread to be lacking. I could not comprehend why cant hotel restaurant offer meat (real meat, not ham or cured meat) as part of the daily breakfast spread?
I took a little from the buffet spread but found the food to be stale and cold, definitely not the way I liked it. I departed the restaurant and went over to the club lounge instead.
The breakfast at the club lounge was much better, I ordered a serving of Mee Mamak and was pleasantly surprised to find a generous serving of prawns on the noodles as it was served.
All in all, it was a pretty decent stay at the Pan Pacific Orchard. The Club lounge service is pretty good and I would be much happier if the dimsum platter was available for breakfast. The spacious suite is great welcome gesture. With promotion rates going from $202.50++ per night, I could see myself returning again in the near future!
