Day 1 - Gold Coast

After Kuala Lumpur, I shall commence the writing of my next location review of my trip to Australia, covering Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast.
This is my 3rd flight on Scoot, they offer comfortable no-frills flights to various locations in Australia such as Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast. I took the FlyBag option that includes a 20kg checked baggage allowance, 1 cabin bag (7kg) and 1 laptop bag.
We flew on an Boeing 777, with a 3-3-3 seat configuration. There was sufficient leg space for me to stretch. I ordered a Wolf Blass Red Label Shiraz for S$9. The naer 8 hours flight was smooth, with negligible turbulence. I took a window seat for the amazing sunrise view.

Driving in Australia is much more convenient as compared to hiring a private taxi or taking the public transport. I rented a 4WD from Hertz for a total of 7 days, with in-house GPS, maximum cover insurance that came up to approx AUD900. Upon arriving at the Hertz counter, our car is ready for collection and within 15 minutes or so, we were loading our luggage onto the vehicle as we prepare for our first stop in Gold Coast.
We drove to Harbour Town Gold Coast, one of the biggest outlet shopping centers in Gold Coast, offering direct outlets and specialty store. We got our 3G card and also decided on having a western breakfast experience at Nonna's Steakhouse.

Having breakfast on a cool Australian morning, with poached eggs on grilled ham, toasted warm bun, drizzled with homemade Hollandaise sauce is a joy. We ordered a variety of breakfast options, from homemade pancakes to club sandwich and scrambled eggs with crispy hashbrown to share.
The total bill including drinks came up to approx AUD60 which was pretty decent considering the amount we ordered. We walked around Harbourtown, which also has an Asian market that sells many asian produce & sauces. We got our 3G sim card there too!. After spending 2 hours at the outlet mall, we drove to Surfers Paradise where our hotel, Q1 Resort & Spa is located.

We got ourselves a 2 bedroom Ocean view with Spa bath apartment. It was approx AUD300 nett per night after taxes and service charge.

After plenty of chilling, photo taking, selfies and welfies, we relax til near dinner time and walked to the Surfers Paradise mall. I wanted to kick start our evening with a long anticipated meal at the Hurricane's Grill, Surfers Paradise.

Hurricane's Grill & Bar Steakhouses offer a variety of meat on grill, with my favourite being their famous ribs grilled over open fire coated with their signature sauce.
We had a cranberry juice, banana milkshake and a jug of lemon lime bitters.
We ordered the grilled lamb cheeks with salad as a starter, followed by a full rack of grilled ribs and a healthy option of market fish (which was fresh salmon) for the evening.
The meal was good enough for the 4 of us, the ribs were great as usual, beautiful caramelization and the meat were extremely tender.
After dinner, we returned to our apartment to rest for the next morning, enjoying drinks as the day comes to a close.
