Makan Kitchen Fortune Feast (DoubleTree By Hilton Johor Bahru)
Makan Kitchen is the trademark restaurant of DoubleTree By Hilton Johor Bahru, serving up international buffet with inclusion of local delights.
In 2017, we welcome the year of the Rooster and Makan Kitchen would be featuring an "all you can eat" Fortune Feast buffet with delectable favorites from the Chinese Kitchen.
I have stayed at DoubleTree By Hilton Johor Bahru quite frequently in recent times and one discovery through my stay was that Makan Kitchen offers very diverse spread of dishes for its buffet and the food are delicious, pretty and very consistent.
The Fortune Feast Buffet runs from 27th to 29th January 2017 with a Hi-Tea Buffet from 12:30 to 16:00 for RM98 Nett and the Dinner Buffet from 18:30 to 22:00 for RM138 Nett.
Enjoy a complimentary Yu-Sheng when you dine in a group of 8 and more.
Latest Update : Makan Kitchen is fully booked on 27th January 2017 with seats fast filling for other slots.
Before we go into the seasonal specials, let me showcase some photos of the staple offerings that are offering at Makan Kitchen.
The seasonal specials featured in the Fortune Feast are
- Ocean Trout Yu Sheng
- Double-boiled soup with Dried Scallops and White Radish
- Braised Broccoli with Black Mushroom & White Radish
- Stir-fried Tiger Prawns with Cereal Oats
- Steamed Garoupa in Hong-Kong Style
- Lotus Leaf Rice & Green Tea Fried Rice
- Roasted Duck
- Pipa Chicken with Prawn Crackers
- Koi Almond Beancured with Mango Pudding
My personal favorites among the seasonal delights were the Double-boiled soup, prawns and fish. The soup is boiled superbly that would satisfy and bring a smile to even the most fussy Cantonese soup lover. It is just filled with sweet seafood goodness.
The prawns were extremely fresh, crunchy and sweet, cooked perfectly well. Same for the fish. I would love to have them anytime anyday. Just serve me up with a bowl of warm white rice. However at the fortune feast, you have the luxury of choosing with another 2 choices, which is the fragrant lotus rice or the Matcha green tea fried rice which is something refreshing to the palate.
We end off the meal with the seasonal special and my personal favorite dessert, the Koi Almond Beancurd. The beancurd is rich in almond and is not overly sweet. The mango pudding was good, but I have tasted better ones.
If these are not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, head over to the dessert sections for more staple selections such as cakes, ice-creams, home-made pancakes & waffles or even a healthy option of fresh cut fruits.
Down all the sweetness with a nice warm home-made Teh-Terik, a local version of the common Milk Tea. Wishing all a wonderful 2017 and prosperous Year of the Rooster.
