Ash & Elm @ InterContinental Singapore
This is my 3rd visit to Ash & Elm since their re-branding. Ash & Elm prides itself with its European cuisine, featuring their own charcuterie and cheese room, wood-fired oven and an open charcoal-grill kitchen.
During my previous trips to Ash & Elm, I tried their pasta dishes and their steaks which was good. This time round, I came for some drinks and a light dinner.
As usual, we started off with a complimentary home-made bread basket served with butter.
I had many flat breads this year but Ash & Elm never fails to draw me back for their signature pumpkin and bacon flatbread. The delicate balance of savory bacon and sweet pumpkin puree was simply enjoyable.
I ordered my favorite cocktail drink, the Old-Fashioned. A traditional cocktail of either whisky or brandy (whisky is my preference) with mashed sugars and bitters followed by a swirl of orange peel, poured over ice. The old-fashioned here was pretty smooth but not as good as compared to the Chambers Bar @ Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
We ordered the crab cakes to share which was pretty nice. The breading was light and the fillings were generously filled with succulent crab meat. The only downside was that the crabmeat could have been more wholesome.
We ended the meal with a plate of pan seared sashimi grade jumbo scallops. The scallops were sweet, and nicely seared on the outside with the center being medium, hence retaining the texture, juices and sweetness of the scallop.
