Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Siam (Superior Room)

During my latest trip to Bangkok, I was on the search for an affordable yet comfortable accommodation that is located in a convenient location AND I am able to earn some loyalty rewards points.

Many options came up but I finally decided with the Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Siam. This property is the first Holiday Inn Express that is launched in South East Asia with very affordable rates going fro THB1900++ during my stay period. In addition, it is located right across the National Stadium within walking distance to MBK Centre, Siam Paragon and both the Siam BTS and National Stadium BTS.

Check In was efficient and swift, we were presented breakfast vouchers (been a while since I seen such paper cuttings) and I was given a nice upgrade to its Superior Room with the National Stadium view on the higher floors of the property.

The Superior Room is very spacious for a Holiday Inn Express and I found it comparable to several Holiday Inns which I have stayed in the past. The room has a nice long working table which suits the Business Traveler coupled with an ergonomic work chair.

The queen bed is comfortable and comes with a selection of firm and soft pillows as per international brand standards.

There is a spacious ensuite bathroom with a powerful shower and a vanity area. As with all HIEX hotels, they only provide basic bath amenities.

The accompanying single seat sofa introduces a nice modern touch to what would seem like a basic room. The room comes with free WIFI for IHG Reward Club Members, complimentary drinking water and breakfast in the morning.

The views during the day and evening are amazing. Regardless of the room you choose, you will be given a treat of either the stadium view or the Bangkok city view.

Breakfast in the morning is basic, there is a range of pastries, cornflakes and milk, coffee machine to brew your everyday favourites. Hot breakfast spread includes the staples such sausages, eggs, bacon and ham including some local fares such as either fried rice or fried noodles. I felt that the breakfast spread could be improved considering that I had better ones in Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay.

All in all, it was a no-frills, comfortable stay at this property. Whenever I am travelling on a budget, I would always look out for a Holiday Inn Express.
