Hotel Jen Orchardgateway (Deluxe Club Room)
I visited Hotel Jen Orchardgateway recently for a stay experience in one of the beautiful Club Deluxe Room with views of the iconic Orchard road.
Hotel Jen Orchardgateway opened its doors in September 2014 with much fanfare as the new lifestyle brand of Shangri-la Group. Hotel Jen will see through the transformation of Traders Hotels into a fresh, fuss free and friendly hotel brand, catering to the new "Jeneration" of travellers with a virtual persona of Jen.
Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is the first hotel under the Jen brand, located right along Orchard road, above the Somerset MRT station, boasting 3 rooftop infinity pool with gorgeous view of the Singapore skyline and 499 rooms
I arrived at the hotel approximately 12noon and was glad to find that my room is ready for check in. The hotel lobby is located at the 10th floor however there is also a concierge and reception area at the first floor along Penang road.
I love the distinct scent of the lobby and the common areas, filled with natural sunlight and bright decor. My room on the 18th floor features a panoramic view of Orchard Road, a king sized bed with a long spacious combined workstation/drawer section with marble top.
I love how everything looks simplistic yet spacious, not overcrowded but your usual hotel amenities are available, just that they are concealed in smart spaces.
I totally appreciate the thought behind the small cosy area along the window for a nice chill session.
The bathroom, although is functional, was a little too squeezy/cramp for my liking. I would also prefer a nice overhead rainfall shower (Which seemed to be gaining popularity amongst hotel bathrooms).
Staying as a club guest also grants me access to the exclusive Club Lounge on the 19th floor that promises some of the best views in the house. I also had access to all day beverages, evening cocktails and canapes followed by a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning.
Evening Cocktails & Canapés hour
If the evening cocktails and canapes are not enough to quench your thirst, head over to the lobby lounge@Jen on the 10th floor for their Saturday, 7 at 7 promotion. A select range of drinks goes for $7++ per serving from 7pm onwards on every Saturday.
With such a beautiful interior and cosy seating area, I could see myself returning during Saturdays for a nice refreshing cocktail, such as the fresh watermelon mojito to chill away the weekends.
As night falls, the streets of Orchard remains as bustling and crowded as during the day, I caught one of my favourite shots during the stay below, the night shot of Orchard road from my room.
I woke up early next morning to catch a stunning sunrise from the rooftop pool.
Good Night Hotel Jen
Good Morning Jen
I woke up to the emergence of a reddish orangey sunrise as many others are still in bed. The rooftop is just me, myself and my camera with a couple of singing birds. Sensing that people would be coming up soon, I took a shot of the infinity pool as per below, a beautiful reflection shot off the calm waters of the infinity pool
After a few shots, I went over to Makan @ Jen for the buffet breakfast and there were already a crowd of people at the restaurant. There is a great variety of food presented for the breakfast menu with an exclusive bakery section, cold cut selection of gourmet ham, cheese and smoked salmon, continental favourites such as grilled sausages, crispy bacon, grilled baby tomatoes and not forgetting local favourites such as porridge, nasi lemak and made to order soup noodles.
Breakfast Spread at Makan @ Jen
Not to mention, there are also a selection of 8 ice cream flavours for breakfast! Wow, Ice Cream for breakfast!!
Although I felt that the food quality could be better, I had no complains over the spread, it was a great range of breakfast delights that even I could not try more than half of what is being showcased.
I totally enjoyed my stay at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway, I felt that the rooms were tastefully designed, it felt very homely and modern. I did expect a bigger room but its a universal knowledge that room sizes are getting smaller worldwide. I felt a little regretful that I was not able to spend more time enjoying the facilities at the hotel, such as the massage at the rooftop cabana, or sipping a drink by the pool bar.
I would definitely see myself returning to the property for another stay in the near future. See you soon Jen!
