PARKROYAL on Beach Road (Orchid Club Premier Room)
During this visit of mine, I stayed in the Orchid Club Premier Room. The Premier room has an identical interior layout as compared to the Club King Room with the only difference being it has a balcony which faces the National Stadium (Selected Rooms) and Tanjong Rhu area which offers an awesome sunrise view!
Being a GHA Black means I had the option of an early morning check in at the property at 9.00am and also a double upgrade subject to room availability.
The 42 sqm Orchid Club Premier rooms come with either a twin or king bed configuration, it has a beautiful ensuite bathroom that comes with in-house St-Gregory Spa bath amenities with luxurious rainfall shower and a bathtub. The bathtub was too small for me to get a decent soak
Above and beyond of staying at the exclusive Orchid Club Levels, Orchid Club Guests get to enjoy all day access to the Orchid Club Lounge which offers complimentary all day non-alcoholic beverages, continental buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails & canapes.
There is also an additional benefit of laundry service of 2 garments per day which has been disappearing from most hotel club rooms and I appreciate that this benefit is still in-tact
My room has a direct view of the Tanjong Rhu area with full view of the Singapore Flyer.
There is also a private lounge area on our Orchid Club Floor with Sofas and bookshelves which guests may gather and have a chat although I would generally prefer to do so in the Club Lounge with some beverages.
I met a friend during noon and we headed to the in-inhouse chinese restaurant, Si Chuan Dou Hua for some dimsum.
The award winning Si Chuan Dou Hua restaurant is available at both PARKROYAL hotels and offers not just fine authentic Si Chuan cuisine but also an extensive selection of Cantonese and Dimsum delicacies.
One of my favourite and must-order dishes is the Homemade Fine Bean Curd with Sichuan Pepper sauce, deep fried peanuts and preserved vegetables. We ordered other items such as the pan fried dumpling, steamed shrimp dumpling, pan fried meat bun and pan fried carrot cake which is pretty decent, it is good but nothing to shout about.
We had Bean Curd with Wolfberry for dessert, the wolfberries were juicy and the sweetness was just nice, not overpowering and was a great option to finish our meal.
Definitely a good and reasonable option for a staycation in the city outskirts. The culturally rich Kampung Glam is just a street away for urban explorers.
