InterContinental Singapore

This is my second stay at InterContinental Singapore, I reviewed my initial stay at the King Shophouse Room a few months back which can be viewed here.
This time, I am reviewing the King Shophouse Suite which is located similarly at the shophouse wing and comes with club lounge access. As per most of my InterContinental stays, the room has been prepared and ready when I have arrived at the property and was promptly brought to the club lounge for check-in formalities.
As usual, I would have lunch at Man Fu Yuan after checking in, their dimsum as good as ever. Read about my review on Man Fu Yuan here.

The club lounge is as gorgeous as before, I totally love the entire decor of the lounge, the over-sized sofa, the Peranakan dining & tea sets, the warm tone. Oh wait, I have yet to receive my key cards.
I was thrilled to meet up with the Club InterContinental Manager, Miss Lucinda, who brought me through the usual formalities and presented an ambassador gift to me, a plushie of the hotel's mascot, Baba Lionel!
I was given the room keys to my suite, located at the 3rd level, overseeing the shopping arcade of Bugis Junction.

The well-appointed 55sqm King Shophouse Suites, or re-named Heritage Suites, located in the Heritage wing, offers luxurious accommodation with a living room, with plush sofas, traditional Peranakan decor, a private wardrobe area, your own bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with separate deep soaking tub, rainfall shower and not forgetting the view of the Bugis Junction shopping arcade.

I love the in room entertainment system, made full use of my 1 free movie as an InterContinental Ambassador and enjoyed the luxurious comfort of the lush beddings. I was pleasantly surprised to sense a faint flowery scent in the living room, it has to be, a vase of champagne roses, pink lilies and orchids
For those who love an afternoon exercise, take a jog at the newly renovated gym, if not, a soak at the pool. For me who loves an afternoon snack, head towards the Club InterContinental lounge for a high tea selection of sandwiches, scones & local delicacies.

During the evening, head down to the Club InterContinental lounge for a lovely spread of evening canapés, complimentary free flow of wines, liquors and cocktails.
I did not meet Miss Bartender this time round, would love to take a shot of her again, in the action. Hopefully in my next visit, she would be on duty.
I always enjoy my lounge experience, especially during the evening, where one could just relax and have a small bite with your own preferred wine, read a book or share some thoughts with your friend or loved ones.

As night falls, I returned to the sanctuary of my suite. As the shimmering lights of the shopping arcade closes one by one, my stomach growled. Its a choice of walking to Liang Seah Street for supper or a phone call to the kitchen.
Laziness won.
A sumptuous bowl of seabass porridge with my favourite condiments pairing of braised peanuts, vegetarian abalone, perserved tofu & soy sauce. To the hotel Staff, please don't remove this from the room service menu! I totally enjoyed it, a full fillet of seabass with piping hot porridge, what more could I ask for? A good night sleep.

Good Morning Singapore

The morning dilemma of every executive lounge guest, where should I dine? The main restaurant which has a better spread but more people, or the exclusive sanctuary of the executive lounge but a lesser spread.
Well, book 2 nights and have breakfast at each of the venue! problem solved. If that solution does not work, I usually have a round of breakfast at the main restaurant before heading towards the lounge for a freshly brewed cappuccino, newspaper and some fruits.
InterContinental Singapore sees the opening of its new lobby restaurant, Ash & Elm, will definitely try my breakfast at the restaurant during my next stay.

Breakfast (Lobby)

Breakfast (Lounge)

Regardless of the choices, both options had a good mix of quality and variety which will not disappoint most travellers, I'm for one who is quite satisfied!

As my stay comes to an end, I can't stop but to think about how would the new refurbished rooms at the tower building would look like. As such, I would be returning to this property again during Christmas to bask in the festive celebrations!
Met many familiar faces during my return stay and look forward to meeting the lounge staff once again!
