Chao Lay Seafood Restaurant
I first had a meal at Chao Lay during my first visit to Hua Hin last year, this time round, I returned to Chao Lay with my family for dinner.
The place was crowded and packed, we were lucky to be able to get a table as the queue continue to extend down the steps from the level 2 restaurant.
Chao Lay Seafood Restaurant is located at the heart of Hua Hin city and extends out towards Hua Hin beach.
I ordered my favourite claypot glass noodles with prawns, whilst family decided on having the recommended deep fried seabass with soy sauce, mum wanted scallops and clams in white wine, whilst sister requested for pineapple rice.
The seafood was very fresh, the fish was fried to a nice crisp, the prawn glass noodles has been stir fried with slices of pork belly and prawns giving a rich crustacean flavour.
The pineapple rice was decent. Love the scallops though, steamed with garlic and the scallops were sweet and succulent.
The clams in white wine was surprisingly good. The mussels though took my mum for surprise, the mussles were sweet and plump topped with well seasoned stir fried peppers & garlic. She finished the whole dish before I could even have 1 of those!
The entire cost us around SGD$50 which was pretty decent for a dinner for 4.
