Located opposite the MacDonalds at Ao Nang Street. This Esan Food Restaurant is a highly recommended eatery by my friend and we decided on having dinner there on the second day of our trip.
A small local eatery manned by a local thai family, you are first welcomed by the smell of charcoal fire and rows of fresh seafood showcased over a bed of ice.
We had our usual order of barbecued red tilapia and squid. This stall also has their special marinated barbecue chicken thigh.
We ordered spring rolls and thai mango salad as appetisers followed by chilli clams, seafood tomyum soup, crab fried rice, local stir fried noodles followed by grilled corn as dessert.
The chilli clams was great, it was fresh, juicy and most importantly, no grit present. Sometimes you wonder, how can such a simple meal be so satisfying, the fried rice was quite good, the noodles was average, the tomyum soup could be more robust in flavours. The standout was ironically the grilled corn, I totally love it, it was sweet and savoury with a slight char on the outside yet still retaining the juicy kernels within. Slurps Indeed.
