Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay
In March 2014, Singapore sees the opening of the second Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay, 6 months after the opening of its first HIE at Orchard. The new 442 rooms HIE Clarke Quay has an attractive fascade and offers a rooftop gym and a rooftop infinity lap pool. Definitely offered something more than its orchard counterpart.
I booked a point stay of 20k and as an IHG Platinum was granted an early check in and late check out at the property. The room came with a welcome card and drinks amenities.

I booked a point stay of 20k and as an IHG Platinum was granted an early check in and late check out at the property. The check in process was fast and professional.

I proceeded to my room, Queen Standard with city view. The room came with a welcome card and drinks amenities. The rooms are a little small but decent for a HIE. It comes with a LCD TV, Workstation with ergonomic chair, comfortable bed (just a little softer would be great!) and luxurious rainfall shower.

I changed into my sports wear and went up to the rooftop open air gym. There were not much staff around, everything was self service and guests were quite polite to each other hence no big issues.
Gym

Pardon for the poor gym shot. The other facility which was pretty impressive for a HIE was its rooftop pool

There were also a rooftop garden and common area for guests to mingle and appreciate the night sky

I went to my room to take a nap before having dinner at clark quay. After dinner, i returned to the hotel which is a 5-10 mins walk from clark quay. I took some shots of the common lobby area.

The breakfast spread in the morning was decent. There were pastries such as croissants, sliced bread, muffin and selected pastries. There were hot selection of sausage, scrambled eggs, fried noodles and cereal selection with milk. There were also a self service beverage station with coffee, hot chocolate and tea.
All in All, i felt it was a worthwhile points redemption at 20k. However, IHG has more properties in asia which has better redemption value for 20-25k range (IC Hua Hin, IC Danang). Given a choice if i had points to spare, I would not hesitate to return to HIE Clark Quay for 20k points.
