Ngon Restaurant @ Hanoi City

During the last day of my trip to Hanoi, I visited Ngon Restaurant, located just a walk away from the Hilton Garden Inn.

I visited the Ngon Restaurant in the past, during my first trip to Ho Chi Minh city. The restaurant decor looks similar but the menu is different, the Hanoi outlet serves offers BBQ on sticks, local porridge.

I ordered the odd items from the menu as I wanted to try something different. A serving of local steamed chicken, local fish cakes, stir fried local greens, fish porridge and bbq pork and squid.

I love the seasoning which they drizzled over the skewers as they barbeque it. The meat however was a little dry and overcooked. A big disappointment.

The stir fried local vegetables were lovely, it had a nice wok flavour to it and the vegetables were crunchy and sweet.

The porridge was the star of the day, thick and creamy, flavourful and goes very well with the steamed chicken and stir fried vegetables.

A simple place for nice vietnamese comfort food, most of the local visit here according to my friends and any place that is frequently visited by locals would not go wrong I guess.
