PARKROYAL on Beach Road (Executive Suite)

A year ago, I visited this property and reviewed the Orchid Club King Room. A year later, I returned to the property, this time as a return guest & GHA Black, was given a nice upgrade to the beautiful King Premier Suite.

Being a GHA Black has its perks!, 9am check in, 2 category upgrade and 6pm check out. Not forgetting that being a Orchid Club guest grants you access to the Orchid Club Lounge that grants all day beverages, continental breakfast and evening cocktails & canapés

Was pleasantly surprised to be informed that the Club Lounge has undergone a complete makeover and was looking forward to seeing the new decor!

Check-In was efficient and fast, we received our room keys without delay.

The 104sqm Executive Suites is modern and designed tastefully with beautiful lightings, a separate living and dining area, private cosy kitchenette and guest bathroom.

I love the long wooden table but felt that an ergonomic chair is missing from the entire setup. The joy of working whilst catching up on news or sports can be quite enjoyable.

The beautiful bedroom comes with an extremely comfortable King sized bed, open concept bath area with a deep soaking tub, double vanity sinks, separate rainfall shower, open concept wardrobe which has a 2 way access sliding door to the entrance area.

The bath amenities provided are from the in-house St-Gregory Spa. I used them before and found them to be quite good for an in-house brand.

Oh ya! there was a little surprise for us when night falls as the housekeeper did the turn-down service.

We went to had lunch at the in-house Chinese restaurant Si Chuan Dou Hua for Dimsum which was surprisingly quite good. The feature of the tea master pouring tea from the long spout tea pot to our teacup was a sight to behold.

However, one thing which actually made me went WOW during the entire stay was the dramatic change of the club lounge. Frankly speaking, I love the old decor, it felt more cosy and exclusive, but the new decor is in line with new modern outlook & design concept that the hotel is adopting.

I'll leave it to you to judge whether you prefer the older or the newer lounge with a "photo battle" below;

One thing for sure, the evening cocktail & canapés spread did not disappoint. It was as good, if not better then before, the usual cold cuts and seafood on ice were present and they were my personal favourite. Adding on to the amazing desserts, fresh fruits, appetisers and salad bar was the chef station serving made to order spaghetti bolognese!

Only downside was that the service could be more personal and engaging? I always receive endearing or great service in executive lounges, felt a little let-down by the lack of a warming/welcoming feel during my stay at the lounge.

When we returned to our room, the bed has been turned down and the curtains drawn for a good night sleep.

Remember I mention about the little surprise? I mean, yeah, it was meant to be a birthday stay hence there was a delivery of a nice slice of cake and GHA Black amenity of a fruit bowl. But nope, the surprise was not the amenities but........how romantic and beautiful the bedroom was after turndown service.

Next morning, I went to have breakfast at the main restaurant but felt that the quality and spread was not as sumptuous as my previous stay. The existing spread was above average at best, did not exactly enjoyed my breakfast.

Hence, I ordered room service to appease my tummy. Boston Lobster Laksa. You bet, its sinfully awesome, half boston lobster in rich coconut gravy with plump tiger prawns, fish cakes, eggs and noodles of choice for only S$25++! Quite reasonable eh?

I invoked the 6pm late check-out benefit as GHA Black and took a swim at the pool and laze at the pool bar area followed by consuming my welcome tea at the Tian-Fu Tea room. We were given a choice of tea to select from and I chose Pu-Er which was pleasantly nice.

Tian Fu Tea room serves high tea Dim Sum from Si Chuan Dou hua so we ordered some to pair with our tea, and when you are at Si Chuan Dou Hua, be sure to the try Ma La beancurd which is ooomph! Ma Ma Mia~

As I left the property, I was already searching on the GHA website for my return stay. If you enjoy reading my post, visit the PARKROYAL on Beach Road website here to create your own staycation too!
